Virgin America's latest sale is a pretty good one. It features an October-through-December travel window, and includes popular cities such as New York, Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C.

The low-cost king returns! Southwest reclaims its crown with a sale that leaves most of the competition chasing after its royal coattails. Flights start at $49 one-way ($98 round-trip) and are the lowest available on nearly every route.

Hot on the heels of yesterday's big news that Southwest plans to buy its biggest rival, AirTran is making news in its own right with a $44 one-way ($88 round-trip) systemwide sale for fall and winter travel.
